I pledge to the Boy Scouts of America that if BSA reinstates Beekeeping Merit Badge, I am willing to serve as a mentor, and as Merit Badge counsellor in my area.

I am an active, registered, trained adult Scouter in Shenandoah Area Council, Mannahoac District (WV/VA) in the northern portion of the Shenandoah Valley.

Beekeeping merit badge was one of the earliest merit badges offered to Scouts in the United States from 1915 until it was discontinued in 1995. This fascinating skill is just as relevant to character building for the youth in our country today as it was a century ago.

And it would be one more great active, age-appropriate outdoor adventure for growing boys.

Thumbs Up Re: Pledge to be a BSA Beekeeping Mentor

I'd be happy to teach some boy scouts all about beekeeping. I have done classes for a few years now and think it would be great to get more kids into this or at the very least make sure they know how important honey bee's are to us.

I would gladly share my beekeeping knowledge to anyone interested and am glad to see boy scouting helping this agenda along.

I, too, pledge to BSA that I will act as a mentor to scouts if BSA reinstates the Beekeeping Merit Badge.

I offer to mentor to new beekeepers in my area even if the scouts aren't interested.
