Frame Rest questions

Which way do you nail these things in? With the nails going down or with the nail going horizontally.
How long are the nails that you use?

Any other tips or tricks are always welcome!!

nail them in horizontal. If you nail them in the top, the scraper might get caught on the nail. In the side means a clean top. Plus there is more wood for the nail to bite into.

I made some both ways. When putting the nails in the sides be careful the points don't come all the way through.

Personally I do the method shown on the left (horizontal). I have a bunch of nails that I got 20 years ago for frames. They are too short (they might have been for split bottom bars) but work fine for the frame rests.

I only put 3 nails in the rests.
