    Smile Gunthar Hauk Beekeeping Seminars

Turns out Gunthar's journey has now led him to South West Virginia- not far from Roanoke. A series of seminars will be offered this Spring and Summer. Would be real curious to hear about them if anyone is able to go.

Virginia: Floyd, The Spikenard Honeybee Sanctuary Workshop, Toward Saving the Honey Bee. The Spikenard Honeybee Sanctuary hosts three workshops with Gunther Hauk
    (each $75, students and apprentices $ 50)

    Saturday,April 24, 9-5

    "Toward Saving The Honeybee"
Already in 2002 Gunther's book with the same title was published predicting the crisis we are experiencing. In this workshop we will look
at every aspect of beekeeping from the point of view of doing justice to the bees' own needs so that they can regain their health.
For beginners with some knowledge of beekeeping and experts.

    Saturday, May 22, 9-5

    "Expanding the Apiary Naturally"
In this workshop we will take a close look at the difference between a grafted and a natural queen, the gift of swarming, the importance of drones,
the right time to make splits. We will have hands-on experience at the hives.

    Saturday, August 21

"Honey Harvest, Mite Treatments, Winter Preparation"
We will cover a host of topics, have hands-on sessions and enough time for questions and answers like
medicinal teas and oils, meditation for the bees etc.

..."difference between a grafted and a natural queen."

I read his book and still think not enough data was provided to support his position that grafted queens are always inferior.
