Walter Kelly wax melter

I just picked up a Walter kelly wax melter at the perfect price, of free. With a 4 prong cord half way attached. Looking at the thermostat controller it says 30a, 277vac. 12.5a. 480vac. Does anyone have this , ( looks like robertshaw controller).? If this is a 277/480 melter, I will have to replace the hot rod and controller with either a 120 or a 240.

The melter is 19inches across by 15inches tall. It would be handy to just put in a 120v rod and be able to plug it in anywhere. If anyone has this set up, does that get hot fast enough for your tastes or would 240 be better.

Last question, Would a after market hot water tank heater work just as good, if the temp goes high enough..?

I would imagine a 480 wax melter would melt lead.

Mines 120v and works fine. You can get replacement parts right from Kelly's.

The 1 on kellys web site, has a temp probe on a copper coil. Would you just put that in the fill tank on the side ? Or you could duct tape it to the side of the tank..

Place it in the fill spot on the tank.
