    Dadant came up with them. I think York was the last ones breeding them. They were an F1 hybrid from at least two separate lines. Sort of like hybrid corn. It is not breed, nor is it even a genetic line of bees, it is a carefully crossed hybrid from more than one line. The offspring from a Starline queen was never as good as the mother and it fell off quickly after that.
