    Default SHB trap results

So, I have done the corrugated board with poor results...
Now, I have used the CD cases with the crisco, boric acid & powder sugar mixture. Results: Poor
Of 6 hives, there were ZERO beetles in the traps. When I pulled a couple of racks, I saw 10-15 beetles crawling around. So I know they are in there.

I guess I'm just going to break down and do a flash treatment of CheckMite...

I too am not sure on the effectiveness of the boric acid/corrugated plastic board. But should we judging this method by how many SHB are inside the trap? I have counted a number of bugs on the bottom board that were upside down and the legs barely moving(dying). If you have SBB's, they could be crawling out, fall to the ground and die.

    Just a thought.

That's a good point...I just know that the videos and pics I've seen of folks using these methods have shown many dead shb in the CD case....

Get yourself a West SHB trap. I keep mine on and rarely see more than a couple beetles per inspection.
