screen type for SBB

I did a search and found that #8 hardware cloth is what people use when they make SBB. My question is can you use replacement screen for a screen door? Or are the holes too small? Has anyone tried this and if so, what were the results. Thanks.

Door screen is pretty small and every little thing stays on top of it. It doesn't take long before it's not acting as a screen any more. Better to use a larger opening. 8 works well.

You can, but the holes are too small to work well. Betterbee uses #6 hardware cloth.
