I am thinking about requeening, and was wondering how late one can requeen in the fall? I guess it depends on if the queen suppliers actually have queens, but when do most people do this, how about in the northeast? Thanks
I'm not sure of the answer, but I am going to requeen one of my hives. Just to make it more likely they will accept her, I am starting a nuc with the new queen first, then will combine after she is laying good.
I do alot of requeening in Sept. here in SW Mo. our first frost date is around Oct 10th. The oldtimers say you need to requeen before the night time temps. get into the fourties. So i guess it depends on the weather in your area that makes the bees cluster. Maybe someone on here knows for sure? Jack
