Hi,
My name is Don Beers, and I am a novice city beekeeper in Portland, Ore. I only have a 14'x16' bee-space, and 4 colonies (that's perfect!). My neighbors love it, and that is Cool.
The first year was easy, with package bees, a great teacher(95 yr.old beekeeper), and Good neighbors.
This year I have encountered every problem that city bee-keepers are prone to. It seems like every homeless bee in PDX found my space (9 swarms!) and almost all of them have been non-productive, and a nuisance to my neighbors.
I look forward to joining your Forum and not only learning, but informing city beekeepers how to make this hobby into a positive for the whole neighborhood.
