    Default Very strange

I have a split that has laying workers in it. I put a frame of brood & larvae in it hoping to get them to make a queen. This is what I found a few days later. I have never seen this. Why did the larvae die? Were there too few bees to take care of it?

The larva do appear underfed. Note the lack of milk or jelly they should be laying in a small pool of it. The black ones are dead.

    Too few and too old.

I would think either there were not enough bees in the split to cover or they were killed/damaged during transfer. Young larvae can chill or dry out very easily.
