Default Italian queen + drones = what kinds of bees ?

My hive (6 weeks old) seems to be doing fine. Tons of new bees, brood and eggs galore.

    I have 2 questions:

    1) If I technically bought an Italian queen, the brood may not be since the drones a queen mates with could be from any other hive or kind of bee. Would that be correct ?

    2) I have a medium super with a queen excluder and my bees aren't adding any comb or honey there at all. I see them walking on it, but that's about it.

    Your thoughts ?

Most queen producers flood the area with their drones, so the odds are you also have bees from Italian drones, but anything could be possible.

As far as the super above the excluder, normally you want to leave the excluder off until you see a comb being drawn, then shake the bees below to make sure the queen is in the brood chamber and then replace the excluder. Check in 4-5 days to make sure that there is no brood in the super (that somehow you didn't shake the queen below).

They will only draw comb if you have a flow going. Otherwise you won't get comb.
