    Default Bees gone reuse deep?

Question: I have a hive that is two year old, I checked it two weeks ago and there were lots of bees in the hive but they were not working very well compared to the other hives. I check it again yesterday and all the honey was gone no brood and it looks like the bees in the hive are just robbers. Could they have swarmed then been robbed? Also the two Deeps are almost clean of honey is it safe to put these fully drawn boxes on as a second deep on new packaged hives needing deeps. I did see one wax moth larva come out of the bottom deep but that was all I seen.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

James, can't answer your question on what happened to your bees, were their alot of dead bees on the bottom board or in front of the hive? I wouldn't be afraid to use them for a second deep or a new package of bees. If you seen sign of wax moths you need to do something quick or they will make a mess out of the drawn comb. If your not going to use them soon, store them with para moth balls then air them out for a day before you use them. Good luck. Jack

You will need to do something with them or the moths will destroy them, including the wood. If you do put these on other hives make sure they are ready for them, if the comb already has wax moths in them you could spread it to your other hives.

    Good luck with it.
