Hey Bee Folks,

I have a small 2 frame observtion hive that I am hoping to use for an outside display tomorrow (the 13th). It's been a bit cool, though, and I'm concerned about the stress/survival of any brood that I put in the hive. I would like to put the frames in the observation hive in the late morning (around 11:00) and take them out in the afternoon. Will this harm the brood? Could I use a small electric heater behind the hive to supplement heat? I'd appreciate any info anybody has on this. Thanks!

Don't know what you mean by "cool" but I have a single frame ob hive that I frequently use in the 60 degree range with no problems. I am more concerned with overheating....direct sun for example, and I don't think a heater is a good idea. I would think if you are using the hive indoors and have plenty of bees in it, the brood will be fine. The bees generate warmth.
