The Central Texas Beekeeper’s Association will start a series of Beginning Beekeeping Lessons at their monthly meeting on May 28. The first lesson will be “What to expect when you start beekeeping” and will be presented at 7 p.m. at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Brenham.

Topics for the next few months will be:
June – Basic equipment and it’s cost.
July – Building the equipment correctly.
July – What type of bees should I get?
August – Hives, Nucs or Packages?

The main topic for the evening will be “Beekeeping and the Internet”. This will discuss the vast amount of beekeeping information that is available for free through your computer. On the internet you will find beekeeping forums with almost unlimited current information as well as links to printable copies of old beekeeping books and detailed information on how to find current literature and other resources. A list of web sites of interest to beekeepers will be provided.

Refreshments and door prizes will be available. Monthly meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
