Default question about how fast a nuc should build up

I bought 2 nucs.. one was weak the other was pretty good.. hived them both.. its been.. almost a month maybe it has been?..
the one is almost done filling up the bottom. so i put a second super on a week ago...the other has barely filled out 3-4 frames..(the weak hive had one empty frame one half empty and 3 mixed...there is brood in there.. and they are bringing in pollen. i put a honey super on just to give them more room and to help with circulation.and also if they build up fast all of a sudden and i dont notice..they have somewhere to build...(getting muggy and hot)
at what point should they (strong hive) be filling out the second box we have a great bloom of white clover on our land.. about a acre of it at least if not more not to mention the black locust starting to bloom.. etc..
it would be nice if i could get even one jar of honey this year. sigh..

Wise man looks both ways anyhow.......

OK, don't expect honey but I think the sigh was more of a hope for honey...good for you.

The strong hive will fill the second box about as quickly as the first one assuming that they have a good food source and a good queen. If you're on foundation, remember that some energy goes into that wax but a strong hive will pull wax pretty quick if there's a need....like a place for brood or for honey or for pollen, etc.

The weak one you need to watch. I wonder if you have a failing queen. Be looking for supersedure cells or a real spotty brood pattern. Nucs often come with a new queen and a new queen sometimes take a while to get going. That may be the case here but I always watch a new queen for a while.

When you say that you put a "second super" on I'm assuming that you meant hive body.

If there is a strong flow the second box may fill up much faster.

I don't see why you shouldn't expect honey. If you wanted to you could put an excluder on the strong hive and put a super over that.

You can make bees or honey.
