    Default Cockroaches?!

I just started a hive this year and caught one warm swarm that has resulted in a 2nd hive. When I check up on my two hives the ordered Italians are doing fine but when I open my wild swarm hive it always has 4 or 5 cockroaches in it. Is this normal? How do I keep this from happening?

    Default Get used to it

I have cockroaches in many of my hives. They don't seem to do any damage other than gross me out. Might as well get used to them. The only potential problem I can see, is if you brought one home in or on your bee suit. Your spouse is liable to suggest a different hobby.

Thanks for the link to pests page. I will try removing the inner cover and seeing if that allows the bees enough access to chase them off. I was mostly concerned about the sanitation of having cockroaches around the honey and of course any disease they might spread to my bees. Thanks again.
