Default Best location for mini mating nucs?

Should the mini mating nucs be set up in full shade, partail shade, or full sun? And is it best to set them up in a line or in a circle? (I have seen it both ways)
    Thanks!

Partial shade is good. Some will abscond if they get too hot.

I would set them up so that each entrance is uniquely oriented to prevent drift. Used any any land marks you can to help each entrance to be easily identified by returning and orienting virgins. Rings around shrubs, clusters and meandering lines along edges have worked well for me. MP's point is important also. Smaller units can have a challenge thermoregulating. A early spring yard is not the same as a summer mating yard in many instances; as conditions change so do locations. Early April I like a little more sun, but not in July.
