Hi! My name is Molly. I'm 30 and a mom of 3 boys. We live in Vermont and got our first colony last spring. They wintered well, despite the incredibly rainy summer we had, but I'm holding my breath until we're through April. We are supposed to be getting another colony in April, but the local beekeeper/breeder I ordered from had a big die-out this winter and doesn't know if he can sell any nucs. He may need them all to replace his lost ones. We'll know in April.
I come from a long line of beekeepers and many of my family still keep bees, so I'm lucky to have advice from my mom or any of my aunts or cousins along my beekeeping journey. Sadly, my mom's bees died over the winter (varroa).
I look forward to learning a lot here from other beekeepers - escecially those in cold climates!
