    Default unhealthy foundation

I have a 2 year old previously healthy hive. I just checked the boxess from the winter. The brood box has 3 frames that are black and outside the entrance was a pile of what almost appeared to be saw dust. The bees are very active and seem healthy anyone know what I should?

    Thanks

If your frames were new when the bees were installed 2 yrs ago the dark comb is probally from normal use. I wouldn't worry about it. The "sawdust" material is probally from beeswax from the bees uncapping and consuming their honey.

How old is that comb? Old black comb can be unhealthy for the bees as it contains old feces and buildup of chemicals and pathogens.

being 2 yr old I wouldn't worry. The mess your seeing is normal spring house cleaning. The wax willturn really dark with age from bee traffic and brood rearing.
