I was talking with a few members of my Bee Club, We were kicking around the Idea of moving most of our hives South, We are near Portland Oregon. We are not trying to pollinate. Just move hives down south for better wintering results.

My Question here would be how far south would we have to move them to greatly improve the odds. Here winter is wet, lows in the lower 20's but not to long. Not much blooming till April, May.. We do have maple bloom but its usually raining and they cant get It.

It would be worth the fuel cost to keep down the nucs and package costs.

Even the hives that make it through the winter can't keep up with a split coming back from the almonds.

I'm only talking about maybe 40 hives..
