    Smile Relocating Hives

I find that I must relocate a couple of hives asap.
My question is: If I make this move with the temp ranging from 44 to 54
degrees, (a 5 hour trip/pickup truck), can the bees handle this, or should
I wait for warmer temps. Thanks

They will handle the move fine...... I've moved them
a temps below freezing. It's actually easier to move
them when in cluster. Just use the general cautions,
    be gentle.

Use straps or hive staples to secure the boxes together.

Screen them in if you're not moving them at night.

Today would be a good day. Rainy enough and not too warm, so they aren't apt to fly much. I wouldn't bother w/ the screen, not on a day like today.

load them up early in the morning and go, should be no prob. Do strap the hive stacks or staple the boxes and top/bottom boards together. No need to screen in the entrances in my experience. Unload and place in the new location as soon as you arrive.
