Do wax moths taint honey? Can you extract and strain honey that has wax moths on it? If not can you give it back to the bees?

Usually, I see wax moths in the brood area. If they're actually in the stores area...actually in that wax, I wouldn't extract for human use. I don't know if they taint the honey at all, but I'd sooner give it back to the bees. Freeze first to kill the larvae that might be in there and you should be OK. The bees will be grateful!

Thanks

As a rule of thumb I would not sell any honey that I would not feed to my family. Although the honey would probably not be tainted the thought of larva and other foreign particles in the honey is not appealing to most normal people. If word got out that this was going on it could possibly hurt your sales,![]()
