Question Honey Bees foraging on soda cans

I have seen yellow jackets on soda cans, but never honey bees. I had to check 2 or 3 times to convince myself they were honey bees, but in fact they were. Has anyone else seen this kind of behavior mid winter (Dec. 26) in warmer climates? BTW, these were not my bees.

mine go for the soda cans all year long. we have a recycling bin in the back yard that the bees love. So basically what I'm saying is that it is normal.

I have a pile out back that the bees get water out of.

When I was a baker I saw the bees all over the glaze buckets in the dumpsters out back.

them cans are death traps, my nieces left a few almost empty cans out by the trampoline and when I went to mow a few days later I picked them up, well each can had about 20-40 bee's in them dead. I got on them young ens butts and showed them what leaving cans in the yard does, they said sorry and they will never do it again (twin girls 5 years old), yup they will the next time they are out there, oh well, they just young ens.

I havent' noticed any dead bees in ours, but normally they are pretty drained out before they get tossed out.
