Heated Bottling Tank Recommendations?

Have been considering getting a heated bottling tank...nothing too big. Last year I extracted about 225 lbs honey. Hope to add a hive or two this coming year so honey production could go up some. Anyway...I was just wondering what would be the best equipment for this purpose and most economical as well. Will be glad to hear your thoughts and recommendations regarding specific brands, sizes, costs, etc. Thanks!

You can't beat Maxant.

yup Maxant is the best when it come to any type of bottling tank thats for sure. They sell several different sizes and come with no drip valves, though they can get very pricey, but you get what you pay for. Your probably looking for a water jacketed tank, something in the 25/42 gallon range. Dandant is probably your next best choice though I don't think they come with valves and have plastic tops. Also all Dadant's water jacketed tanks are thinner then Maxants beside there 70 gallon model.

I have a jacketed grocers tank from Kelley's that works really well. It holds about 12-13 gallons and has a brass self closing valve. It comes with an adjustable heating element with a temperature dial that is very accurate. I was passing through the area and stopped by Kelley's. I think the one I bought had been used -- maybe a return. They sold it to me as a "scratch and dent" item with a good discount -- it works great and is all stainless.

I can fill it up with solid crystallized honey and in no time it's ready to bottle. I would recommend a fully jacketed tank like this one with water up the sides and not just under the honey as some models are.

After using a tank, you'll never want to see another 5 gallon bottling bucket.

Only regret is -- I can see it becoming too small in the next couple years.

I've bought the 16 gallon maxant it works great, I keep honey at 90 degrees and bottle it as I need it. Found it on craigslist for 150..

I was quite proud of the purchase. On a side note, I called Maxant and asked if they had an owners manual or anything on the tank. I told them I bought it used , but had nothing on the care or use of it. Maxant sent me the info they send out on the new units. Very Nice
