I/m not in cali, but what is a slit????
Chef, you bring down your boxes and a queen to go with them & I will fill every box you can haul back on your Truck.
The Slits are extra through.![]()
Slits.... that is what happens when I mix wine and thanksgiving together.... heck.. cant spell BEFORE the wine, cant spell WHILE drinking the wine and cant spell AFTER the wine.
Seriously... though, would you pay in splits? I would like to go work for someone during my spring or summer break off of school.

depends if I want to rent a bigger truck to come down to cali with or not. I guess whatever a weeks worth of work will get me. It would be nice to meet you and maybe cool for you and the family if your cool with that. Heck...set me up with housing and I will cook dinner every night as well.

Well, I have two weeks off... one week in the spring and one week in the summer. I would like to do something bee related and work for an operation in hope to get paid in splits. All I have is that blue truck. I might have to rent a small flat bed or something. I would love to do it..... neat trip, meet beekeepers, work for larger operation, cook some, have fun and hopefully get paid in splits.

Keith: for a young beekeeper who is looking to expand , the drive down certainly makes sense. vs 3lb/ $73 each , chasing swarms, or ?
a few quick questions (for anyone)
-obviously, there a number of CA beekeepers who do not shake bulk bees after Almonds / or around April.. what do you think their reasoning for not shaking bees is? how easily could they be persuaded to do so?
-what times(s) of year specifically could you really truly use an extra body (no cdl, not familiar with your operation) around?
-how much does a bulk shipping container of shook bees go for (I realize quantity dependent, but say, ballpark 200-300lbs) response in pm would be ok
thanks
Thanks Purvis....
I want to go and I need to see bigger operations. I have seen prettyh much everyone on this side of the mountains in Washington.
I would like the opprotunity to work and and work for splits.

Chef!
If Jarrett is still willing go be a grunt. You will learn more than you can imagine. Examine the economics of hauling boxes down see why people buy packages. Get a bunch of Calif bees & queens and head home in mid April. May? Start getting your boxes together pronto because they won't do it by themselves while you are gone! Better one thing well than two half donkeyed.
Make you mucho nucs spring maybe you have something 2010.![]()
