Get a copy of cute pdf. It installs as a printer on your system. Print the document and it asks you where you want to save it.

Use the Open Office suite instead of Word and the rest of Microsoft Office. Open Office (www.openoffice.org) includes word processing, spreadsheet, database, drawing, and presentations. Great price - it is FREE open source software. To convert an existing Word document, just open it using Open Office Writer then go to File, then Export as PDF.
Cute pdf is very good. If you can print it, you can convert it to a pdf.

Lots of PDF converters. WordPerfect has always converted to PDF on request. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why Word doesn't publish to PDF. It's simply stupid. OpenOffice, StarOffice, Google, Cute, ps2pdf....lot's of choices. Better to just give up on Word. A standard it is NOT.
