    Default What plant is this?

The bees seem to like it. Is it a good nectar source?

    Flat Top White Aster

Aster is a good fall source of nectar but the honey granulates fast I`m told. There are many Aster varieties.

"This is one of the group of closely related white, narrow-leaved asters, which presumably interbreed and are difficult to distinguish". -From an Audubon field guide.

It might be,. 'Calico Aster', [Aster lateriflorus]. The common name refers to the fact that the disk flowers are at first yellow and later turn purplish red, so that flowers on one plant and even a single head may include both colors at the same time.
