Calculating supplemental pollen needs

This will be my first time feeding pollen substitute to stimulate fall brood rearing. I will also feed it in the form of patties in early spring.

How much do you think they will need per hive this fall? I have two hives. One is a full deep and the other is a half-full deep. They have noticeably cut back on egg laying recently.

I am trying to put together an order of Bee-Pro from Mann Lake and need a rough idea of how much to order.

Budget about 10 of those one pound patties. You can freeze what is left over for the spring of 2009.
The bees will consume the patties if they have at least 10% pollen. But, I onley saw the 4% patties.

OK thanks. I am ordering ten pounds of the Bee-Pro which it says can be made into patties.

You might want to buy them pre-made at 4% pollen
