Requeening a superceding hive.

I noticed 6 supercedure cells in a hive that I was requeening today. The bees were very runny and were festooning on the bottoms of the frames, but I found the queen. I checked all the frames twice looking for any other queen cells. I put the new queen in the brood nest , but I left the cork covering the candy. I thought I would go back in three days and check again for queen cells, and then remove the queen cage cork covering the candy. This is the first time I have tried to requeen during supercedure. Are there any other steps I should take to make sure the hive accepts the new queen?

Did you remove all the queen cells you found and kill or remove the old queen? So long as you did that, it should go well. Yes, check in 3 days and remove any queen cells you find. Remove any attendants, if any, in the new queens cage, they can cause probs with queen acceptance.
