Am I right in thinking that giving bees new frames during a flow in incredibly inefficient?
Is there a better time to add completely undrawn supers?
Thanks!

better for you is not always better for bees. they dont get very enthusiastic about drawing wax unless there is a flow or they are in swarm mode. good luck, mike

The bees are comb drawing machines during a flow if they need the space. During a dearth they see no need for extra space so they shut down the comb drawing. When feeding bees 1:1 syrup and pollen patties in the spring you are trying to simulate a flow to trigger the bees into building up there numbers and space.
Drawn combs will get you more honey in a flow, but they won't draw combs if there isn't a flow of some kind. They have to NEED comb to build it.

Probably about 3 weeks after reproductive cutoff. White wax suddenly appears.
Thanks for your time, Beehopper
