    Default Tub of Apiguard...

I would like to buy Apiguard by the tub to cut down with the cost but would not use it up this fall. I have been using Mite-A-Way II in the spring to rotate treatments so I might not use the rest till next fall. Will the gel dry up in the tub if I don't use it all?

I kept a part of a tub from 06 to 07 and it stayed ok be sure to get all the gel off the top of the tub and wash the lid so that it will seal. It comes with a tamper proof seal like any other plastic container that does nothing to seal the tub.

    Why not use natural methods?

Do you really want to contaminate your honey?

Nothing we do with bees is natural.

How is Apiguard going to contaminate honey?

Thanks. I also e-mailed the company, Vita Europe with this question and hope to hear from them this week.

Got a prompt response from Dr Max Watkins of Vita ( Europe ) Limited stating that the 3kg tubs of Apiguard are fine if opened and resealed for 3 years except if it gets down to a real thin layer in the bottom. As long as its more than a thin layer, stir it up and use it.
He goes on to add: In warmer conditions (above 77F) use a half dose, ie 2 x 25g, rather than 2 x 50g.
That would save quite a bit of money...

    Default 2x or 3X

The recommendation I have seen most often is 1/2 dose, three times at weekly intervals. Here's a reference: http://www.scientificbeekeeping.com/...ask=view&id=40
