I put some honey in the local county fair last week. The light honey took first and medium/dark amber second. My samples were the only two submitted and if they didn't score well I was gonna jump off a bridge. It's been a dry summer and the mud/dirt below might hurt!
Actually, I just wanted to remind everyone that it's fair time. I wasn't after a ribbon or the $5.00 check, it was all really just another promotion stunt for the honey industry on a local level. Placing honey in local fairs gets you a little recognition and promotes our hobby/business of bees. There hadn't been honey submitted at the county fair for several years. The fair staff said they appreciated someone placing honey 'with what's all been happening to the bees and such' as one put it!
On the gloating news front, I did take purple in the general "open class adult" with the honey. That meant the bees best efforts outdid a lot of other submissions. Support your bees by promoting their good work every chance you get.
