Thick Honey

I just extracted my first super of honey!!! I had placed the hive where a lot of sourwood was blooming and not much of anything else. I have been told that sourwood honey was light colored. What I got was I think medium colored. Not light or dark. Also it is very thick. A lot thicker than any other local honey that I have bought. I am very thankful fo what I got considering this is my first year and I got started late. I guess my questions are would thick honey considered good or bad? Could this be sourwood even though it is medium colored? Regardless it is goood.

Around here (western NC) the early/spring honey was very thick, thicker than what is usually harvested. Nobody seems to know why.
One thing everybody does know is that it wants to hold onto the bubbles.

Viscosity, thickness if you will, is mostly a function of moisture content and temperature.

By your description, you describe my early/spring honey to a tee, I would say what you have is 'Wildflower", at least that's what I'm calling it; a mix of everything.

Not only thick, but very very tasty, almost like candy!

I had some honey a few years back that was liquid white and VERY thick. It was so thick it would string like mozza cheese on a pizza. You could nearly tap it with the back of a spoon. If someone showed it to me w/o knowing where it came from I would have sworn it was corn syrup (but it wasn't). It had an excellent flavor.
