Unchewable material needed for trap

I use a West SHB trap and only have one but I have two hives. I have been rotating them until I can get a second one. I found a small tray without a top that I would like to put some veggie oil in for a backup trap but I need a top to let beetles in but keep bees out.

Would bees chew through aluminum foil? What about cardboard?

I know they will chew through styrofoam so thats out.

Looks like I'll be going with a thick layer of newspaper with holes punched in for a top.

The bees will chew through the newspaper very easily. Use a peice of #8 hardware cloth. The beetles pass through it a will but the bees can't even come close.
