Hello,
I have an extremely small colony of bees in a glass observation hive. More like a glass bowl. There's between 100 and 200 bees in there. (Long story short- I used to have a 5-frame OB hive but they quickly outgrew it so I transferred them to a TBH, and there was a bunch of bees outside my window, wanting to get in. Gave them a home!) I gave them 2 small peices of comb with eggs and larvea. After about 5 days i have seen no signs of queens in the making. No queens cells, nada. I thought a new queen would be too productive and cause them to swarm often. And so I would like to know if anyone out there has a older queen that is still productive. She does not need to lay more than 50 eggs in a day. I'm still in the planning process, and I may not even need the queen in the end, but just need to know if there are some old, unwanted queens out there.
Thanks!
