Yep, almost a Darwin Award. Funny thing swarm calls have been running me ragged ever since the news played this around here. Yesterday I retrieved a swarm from a little Live Oak at a local place of business. A news crew showed up. So, I dutifully suited up (Thanks magnet man.) and trimmed a few twigs. Got the swarm down. Shook them into my bucket and let the flyers find their momma. While this was going on the news lady pumped me with questions for about 20 minutes. She was genuinely interested and was still asking questions off camera about what I do.
The bit didn't run last night. Shoot, with oil prices going up bees are small news stories. She did want my number to keep on file at the station for referrals, both newsy and swarm retrieval / structural removal.
It is really late for us to be seeing the size and number of swarms that we are getting around here. Strange.

Um, why would he dump a cup of gasoline in the shed and simply walk away?
Sounds like he doesn't want to take an arson rap for clicking his lighter.

The beauty of it all was that apparently after genius Jackson burned things up a bit he still had bees!
