I use the latex because its easier to find on the mis-tint shelf at Lowes and Home Depot and the brushes are easier to clean after painting.

I tried hot dipping my woodenware in a Paraffin/Rosin mixture this spring....what a joy, no more painting. Exception is my old painted equipment which I use latex.....I put the brushes in a zip-lock bag after use and squeeze all the air out as I roll the brush up and you don't even have to clean the brush. Pull it out next time and use it. And Ski is right on, you can get latex mis-tinted at a significantly lower cost....and if your friends save exterior latex for you...you can use it for free!
