Miller method question
I want to raise 5-6 queens, mostly for the experience. I am planning on using the Miller method, so I attached some small pieces of foundation to the top bar. I'll put that into the middle of the brood area when it warms up a bit.
I see that once there are some eggs in this comb I am to cut the comb right between the eggs and the just hatched larva. That will leave the larva right on the edge. Why do I need to do that? What would likely happen if I just put the comb into the queenless hive? If the oldest larva is very young, it seems like I should be ok. So what am I missing?
