Yes. Maybe even more than if the queen was there because there is no brood to tend. But, of course, no brood means no replacements for the bees that die so in a few weeks.......pffft.
They sure will, just like MrGreenThumb wrote. If you ever do a walk away split, and you watch the queenless hive, you can easily see them bringing in pollen. And they are bringing in Nectar too...Originally Posted by MrGreenThumb

Sure but you want a queen in there so get one or put in a frame with eggs so they make an emergency replacement.
