    Default Swarm lure positioning

I have many complete hives that are ready for immediate "move-in" by swarms. They are placed in locations al over my property...Now that I have gotten my lures from Bjorn, I do not know for sure where to place the lure for best attention-getting...Outside? Inside? Hanging from the bill of my hat ?(LOL) -----I really dunno..... We will have storms here soon, and all thru the night, but beyond that, it is clear sailing thru the weekend...I want to ready...Thanks

Inside the bait hive. Where inside isn't real critical in my experience.

LtlWilli, I picked up a nice swarm in Quinlan last night thanks to the county agent.

I place them as pictured here, inside the hive, 2 inches above the entrance.
I somtimes fix the lures onto the frame.

Looks like I made a lucky guess---I suspended the lures with wires in about the same place you have indicated. I used wires, thinking that I could remove them for future use easier that way.....How long should I let them remain?
Oh---thanks a million for the tip.I don't care what the exterminators think--bees are good gals and we are their friends.

Someone suggested some time back that he puts the drops on the head of a q-tip and drops them in the box. That would be easy for you...

I attach the lure to the end bar of a frame with a push pin.

    Default poor mans lure

The poor mans lure is cotton stuffed into straws cut at 2 inches.
Several drops of lemongrass oil and staple over the ends, and
    they are ready to go.

This sounds really good, and all you have to do is go by every once in a while to refresh the cotton.

I think I will try this one .. thanks naturebee

Sadly, the old addige of "Too many cooks in the kitchen....." holds true. That is certainly not the case in this hive....You folks have something to be proud of here....I tip my hat to you all.
