Home made frame holders
I Couldn't stand the the thought of spending 20 bucks on something I would probably loose the first time I use it. So I decided I would whip up my own. I had some aluminum sitting around. I think they will hold at least 3 frames full of honey if they are close to the hive body plus a couple of brood frames. I made them long enough to hold 5 frames.

I am of the same mind, Matt. Something like frame holders ought to be able to be made from something you already have. Thanks for sharing your idea.

Looks good, and considerably cheaper than the $20+shipping for the catalog item. I was wondering if you could drill a hole in the square hanging piece that goes over the hive to add a structural stiffening component. Kind of like a small piece of wood, thickness of the hive body, that you could fold the aluminum pieces into (for storage in your kit). I'd be worried about knocking the holder and having the frame fall out.
