    Default Running a 2-Queen Colony

I'm thinking of running a 2-Queen colony next year. Primarily I'm looking for more bees in one hive to fend of pests and make more honey. What are some pros/cons of running 2-queens? And what would be the best way to go about it?

I'm just a small time beek still wet-behind-the-ears and want to try something new out.

Snelgrove ran 2 queen colonies. Invented the snelgrove board. He wrote books on it. That is where I would start

    Cool Running a 2-Queen Colony

Please read about the topic in ABC & XYZ of Beekeeping.
I have tried it and found out that I was better off just putting frames of sealed brood into a colony with a new spring queen.
The 2 queen system has been used under the topic of requeening without dequeening.

Do a search, we really covered this in great detail last year (and i think the year beofre). It ad the pros, cons and instructions.

I'm a big fan, it's a ton of work, timeing is everything, buy a stepladder.

Thanks... guess I should have run a search before posting. I tend to think of that last though...

Most times I think it's worth getting back into a topic for something new, in this case we did such a thorough job it would be hard to repeat.

Feel free to contact me by e-mail if you run into any questions or bring em back here.

Hey, that looks like my horizontal 2 queen system, except I use 2 stacks of supers.
