For registered beekeepers in WV, you will be receiving a one treatment of
api-var and one gallon of corn syrup per colony registered. According to my
assigned bee inspector, you will be notified of a location where distribution of
meds and syrup will take place. It would simply cost too much to mail everyone
their syrup. Due to late freeze last spring which caused some beekeepers to lose
bees to starvation, the state delegates were lobbied for funding to help out the
beekeepers, and they have. Though it was too late to do anything about last
years freeze, they are supplying us with the syrup in case we have a repeat of
last spring's weather. It's nice that they are taking a proactive approach. Now if
I could only talk them into letting me swap out the meds with some pollen
patties.
