Hello,
I am a newbee. I hived my bees on 4/6/07. Added second hive box on 5/7.
The hive boxes are full of comb. Added a super on 7/6. There are plenty of bees in the super, but not a stitch of comb. Is this normal?

This is pretty normal if there is not nectar flowing in your area. The bees expent a lot of energy building comb so they only do it when there is good reason. I have the same situation here in CT. Have had supers of foundation on since about the same time and it has barely moved. You will be surprised how fast it draws out when there is a flow on.
Yes it's normal, they've not needed to build comb yet. I've got a bunch of hives with honey supers on with foundation and they've not drawn any comb on mine either. Only this past week and a half with Golden Rod and purple loosestrive really blooming are they now starting to draw comb.![]()
Thank you for answering my question!
