Will this hurt bees, or will they clean it up? If one should clean mold off before putting bees in , what procedure should one use? Thanks Lee

People say the bees will clean them up, but if these are old comb (more than 3 years in the brood chamber), you might as well do yourself a favor and toss them. Diseases build up in the used cells and can result in all kinds of headaches. Its alot easier to let them build new comb then to have to deal with old disease ridden comb.

Usually the reason for the mold in the first place is not enough ventlation in the hive.

Why are the frames mouldy? Have they been in empty hives, or is there some reason why you occupied hives are damp? If so, is there anything you can do about it? I got rid of mould in occupied hives by putting them on screen bottoms.
