    Default Beekeeping Podcast??

I officially begin beekeeping tomorrow....so to speak. My first hive will arrive tomorrow morning and a friend (and current member of this board) is going to bring me bees in the next few weeks. Not sure what all that consists of but he assures me it'll all be fine. If all goes as planned, I hope to build another hive and order more bees in the spring. We'll see.

Anyway, I've read everything I can get my hands on, Beekeeping for Dummies, about a dozen past issues of Bee Culture, scores or internet information and my copy of The Backyard Beekeeper is on its way. However, I have a long commute to work and spend a tremendous amount of time listening to podcasts. Are there any good Beekeeping poscasts out there? I've found a few podcasts with beekeeping episodes but that's pretty much it.

If you haven't found ours yet we talk about it a bit in a few episodes. I think we've had Tom on 3 times or so, and we've gone from the thinking about to having 4 hives. We've really never gone in depth though.

I would be interested in any others.

That's cool.....before I even knew you were a member here, I found your episode with Tom from a Google search and already have it loaded up in the MP3 player for the trip home!

It would be great to listen to a few more bee centric episodes.

    Any others out there?

Welcome to the forum, KES. I grew up in central IL and went to school at SIU-C! You have an awesome black locust flow in the spring up there.

I was wondering the same thing about bee podcasts. What did I do before I had an Ipod?

    The Bee man looks cool.

There's going to be 2 up coming bee episodes. This month we'll do an episode on extracting and a photo walk through of the process. I think people will find it interesting to see how it's done.

The second one I think will be a photo walk through of a bee hive. Most people who listen don't have a clue what's in a hive. So I think if we start at the top, go through the stores, and down to the brood nest showing polen stores and eggs/capped brood, etc.

Maybe we should have Tom on and just do a podcast looking at what we learnt, how to get started next year, lessons, etc. Hmpf, not sure that's a good one, I haven't had a hive survive the winter yet....

Andrew, I'm really enjoying your site, it's very creative. Looking forward to the upcoming podcasts and whatever bee info you might have.

Slightly Off Topic, I just checked the UPS tracking site and my first hive along with assorted accessories is currently "Out For Delivery!!"

    WOOT!
