Does anyone know how to get a hold of Dave Hackenburg? I was wanting to talk to him about his acitic acid experiment.

na, I did finally talk to Dave. His "symptoms" are right in line with ours. I really just wish someone would figure something out. If and when others experience this they will FREAK. You have not seen anything like it I guarentee you!!!! My invatation remains open, with bed, meals, and a complete tour of the unexplainable bee thing called "CCD".

So, did he have anything to say that you can share w/ us? I've seen plenty of his and Paul Burts' hives in their summer locations, here in the North Country. Did he have anything to say on their condition? I'll have to give him a call and see if we can't get together for lunch or dinner sometime.

Sorry for the delay in reply, Dave just told me that the radiation seemed to help and that all future dead outs would have the comb sorted and sent through the irrratiator. Unfortunately, we are far from any such luxury so I am trying the "other" method of fumigating with acetic acid. I shook a few colonies onto fumigated equipment last week. I'll check them again early next week. The more I learn the more I am confused. But i will say that I think Nosema, either new or old has something to do with CCD. According to Eric Mussen, the latest studies show that Nosema Cerrara (sp?) is twice as deadly as Nosema apis. This is some what in line with what we have seen. We have noticed that Fumidil B helps but only for a short time. Appearently Nosema Cerrara spores justate at a rate exactly twice as fast as Nosema Apis. So perhaps is out breeding the medication. Don't know for sure.
