    Default They make the Queen

I have a couple of real strong hives and one that I believe is queenless, and has been for a couple of weeks to the best of my estimation. I was thinking about pulling a couple of frames from a strong hive and put them in the queenless hive. i would pull frames with young egg and plenty of nurse bees. Will they make a queen from this or will this most likely not work ? any info is appreciated. Thanks

That'll work but don't wait too long or you'll end up with laying workers. I did this with a hive earlier this year, but I will warn you that it puts them over a month behind. Keep that in mind and if you're looking to build back up sooner, consider ordering a replacement queen.

If you're taking nurse bees with the frames I found that it helped to smoke them to kind of keep everybody from fighting when they are put together.

Make sure you're taking very young eggs, but also make sure that you don't accidentally take the queen from your queenright hive.

Chances are that they have already begun to make a queen of their own, but it will not hurt to give them a frame of eggs just in case. As mentioned above, check to be sure that you don't transfer the queen from another colony.
