2 today and 1 yesterday....13778
Two swarms that another beekeeper got in Summerville, PA 15864 on Sunday May 26.
The owners saw the first swarm come out of an old house on their property on Saturday. The 2nd swarm came from the same house - both were good sized swarms so either there are two different colonys living in the old house or the first swarm was the old queen and this second one had a virgin queen. After the 2nd swarm came out, they called a local beekeeper who came and got them both.
These are the first confirmed swarms in our area so far this year.

A hive swarmed yesterday, May 27.
Before a bee stings, it will be sure to let you know that it will hurt them more than it will hurt you.
My stronger hive (I have two) swarmed yesterday! I'm still new at beekeeping so. Missed the signs of over crowding. I knew what was happening when I checked the hives yesterday & by the time I ran in to get my husband to show him, they were gone! I hope they find a good home or somebody finds them & calls an experience keeper in the area... it was sunny & mid 70s. Was a beautiful day. Today has been raining & cold I hope they've found a warm dry home. Was a pretty amazing site to witness even if it means I had to say goodbye...
Had a nice size swarm move into one of my empty hives I'd baited with lemon grass oil. Storming and rainy but they moved right in. Wooo Hooo . 49073 Nashville Michigan

welcome to your new addiction!!
this is a good addiction, and it's cool. if are country ran like a bee hive we would all have work.
A country run like a hive would be a cold, cruel world. It would make the Spartans seem like the Walton's.
you may be right. but the so called free programs would not be there to use, so the free rides would be gone.
Well wasn't expecting a day like this today a new hive of three weeks old swarmed to a nearby tree I was lucky to be home and fill three buckets full up on a 18 ft ladder and get enough equipment to start another hive it was an experience to remember so my first swarm date is may 29th at about 9:30 am in 17527 it will be a remembered experience my wife photo / video the event
Was it a swarm or an abscond?
Well I'm not sure what a abscond is so now I'm not sure
Got a call this morning about a swarm. Near London,OH. Swarm had come from wild bees in a nearby tree. It was as easy as it gets to capture. With my hive sitting on the ground the tip of the swarm was about 3 inches about the hive. Then I had to carry the hive all of 6 feet back to my van parked in the driveway. Took 5 minutes at the most.
I caught another swarm in my yard on Monday. Today I got a call from my daughter and son in law, who was in Exeter New Hampshire and spotted a swarm in a tree over the house of friends house.

caught my very first swarm tonight. a friend called me on the way home and told me he heard a swarm near his house. sure enough when i got there there was a good sized ball on the very tip of the smallest limb of the apple tree, probably 18'-20' off the ground. about to put them in the hive after i eat a little dinner. would guess it's maybe 3-4# of bees.
