    Default Presumed swarm 9-20-09

I noted a sudden decrease in the number of bees in one of my hives between Sept 17 and Sept 20th. When I inspected the hive, numerous empty queen cells were found. I had been feeding this hive since it had swarmed in late June. Looks like it swarmed again - guess I overfed them. Zip 35223.

I never saw the swarm depart.

Clements, CA this morning. Got an email about them last night that they arrived around 5pm. Called the guy up this morning and went and got them. He offered to pay me, but I couldn't bring myself to do that. The thrill was enough pay for me and it was only 20 miles from my house.

I caught a small swarm March 17 in Hacienda Heights, Ca. 91745.

Here at work, I was told of two other swarms in the Long Beach California area around the same time.

The weather here has just switched from cool rainy weather to hot and sunny. I thought it may have something to do with all the swarms taking flight.

Caught a modest size swarm today. I think it came out of a near by bee tree. About 1 1/2 - 2 lbs of bees. Fairly gentle. In Orange, Texas.

The season has started in southern Louisiana. I walked out in the yard yesterday 03-23-10 and found a swarm about three an one half pounds on a small citrus tree that I had planted last year. They were only about 18 inches off the grownd. The weather was cool, windy, and overcast. It is my first one for this year. I do not believe that it from my hives, as the bees are dark with deep black stripes. They were very tame and I had them hived in about two minutes. I wish they all could be this easy.

2 swarms in Portland, Oregon today. Both of them were between 3 and 5 feet off the ground. Gigantic!
